Recognizing our superb public servants

From the Washington County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Brian Jensen is Deputy of the year for the Corrections side of the Dept.
Deputy Jim Jessop and his wife Trudy accepted our Recognition for his service to Washington County. He is the recipient of the Sheriff's Star for his valiance in the line of duty and is Deputy of the Year for year for the Patrol side of the Dept.

From the St George Police Department, we recognize Officer Jason Jarvie for his outstanding service. He is the SGPD's Officer of the Year.

Not enough good can be said about the work our Washington County Search and Rescue team does to keep us safe in the rugged beauty of our unique area. These dedicated men and women jump at the drop of the hat, on their own dime, with their own equipment to help the lost and injured who find them selves in peril. To them, we salute the whole team! Sgt Shultz and Boyd Barney accepted our recognition of behalf of the team.

The Rotary Club of Dixie Sunrise offers our warmest "THANK YOU" to these wonderful examples of dedicated service to our community!

A Brief History of Dixie Sunrise Rotary

  • The first meeting of the provisional club was held May 9, 1996 at the Hampton Inn in St. George. There were 4 attendees: Gerald C. Harrison, Chapin Burks, David Prink and T. Robert Cochran.
  • The second meeting was held at the Hampton Inn with 3 attendees: Gerald C. Harrison, Chapin Burks and T. Robert Cochran. (What were they thinking?)
  • Subsequently, attendance grew until there were 25 attendees, and Rotary International issued the club’s charter on September 5, 1996, four days short of four months after the first meeting.
